Our Story

Jason is a huge basketball fan. Specifically, he’s a big GSW and Steph Curry fan. Growing up he wanted to be like Mike. Then, being from Virginia, AI was his guy. He also grew to have a profound level of respect for the late Kobe Bryant - although he was never Jason’s favorite player, he grew to consider him the best in the NBA for a while. Then came Steph Curry and his unforgettable NCAA run. He fell in love with the game all over again. On draft night 2009, Jason became a GSW fan, as that’s the team that was fortunate enough and smart enough to draft Curry.

Jason created the 5 Levels of Scoring framework while in the midst of convo on Clubhouse, while trying to explain to other basketball fans, why he thinks Steph Curry is the greatest basketball player he had ever seen (a hot take for sure). In an instance, it came to him. Steph Curry is the first and only 5 level scorer in NBA history (He’s since come to realize that there are multiple 5 level scorers in the NBA). It just made so much since to him. The 3 levels thing has been around for 20 years! It’s time to evolve our language along with the evolution of the game. Who would argue that the game is the same today as it was 20 years ago? No reasonable basketball mind would.

Very early on, one individual, who may prefer to remain nameless, heard Jason explaining the 5 levels to a room on Clubhouse, and actually encouraged Jason to trademark the concept. He said that he didn’t agree with the 5 levels, but that he was all about seeing young brothers own the things they create. Despite some people in the room thinking that this individual was being facetious, Jason took the advice to heart and trademarked the brand.

Over the next several months, Jason would slowly convince a large mass of basketball enthusiasts on Clubhouse. He gained the support of early adopters such as, Naode, Caron, Kash, Adot, Bethany, Angee, Marc, Besus, Ted, Spike, Cousin, and other key believers. These early adopters would help take the 5 Levels from a concept to a real movement. Even in the midst of much pushback from people stuck in the traditional 3 levels, including one guy who started calling himself the “5 Level Killa,” the movement pressed on, and more and more people joined our side with each passing day.

5 Levels. Change. Growth. Mastery.
